HOPE - Reverend Lonnie Williams was born October 18, 1961, in Texarkana, Texas, to the late Travistine Williams and Allen C. Williams.
 Pastor Williams was a 1979 graduate of Yuba City High School in Yuba City, California.
Pastor Williams was employed in law enforcement for 11 years as a Correctional Officer and a Police Officer in Conroe and San Antonio, Texas.
Later, Pastor Williams worked as a Drug Abuse Resistance Educational Coordinator in Palestine, Texas; social worker for the Longview Independent School District; Director of the Boys and Girls Club in Carthage, Texas; proprietor of LTW Trucking, Incorporated; and Juvenile Correction Officer with the Texas Youth Commission in Gainesville, Texas.
Pastor Williams matriculated through the halls of Sacramento City College, Langston University, Texas Department of Criminal Justine Correctional Academy, Union Theological Seminary, Carolina University of Theology and Andersonville Theological Seminary.
Pastor Williams heard the call of God on his life and was ordained in 1982. His pastoral leadership first began at the Rising Star Baptist Church in Grapeland, Texas. He later pastored the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of, Palestine, Texas; Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Conroe, Texas; Bethel Baptist Church of Longview, Texas; Greater Calvary Baptist Church of Kilgore, Texas, Chapel Springs Baptist Church of Beckville, Texas; and Greater Shiloh Baptist Church of Lufkin, Texas.
In 2010, the Lord placed Pastor Williams at the Rising Star Baptist Church in Hope, Arkansas, where he served as their pastor and teacher until the Lord called him home.
Pastor Williams was preceded in death by his mother, Travistine Williams; one sister-in-law, Janice Williams; and, one brother-in-law, John Allison.
Reverend Williams leaves to treasure his precious memories, his devoted and loving wife, Hazel Williams; six children, Lonnita Williams, Tiffany Williams, Cornelius Allen, Oltavia Allen, Lonni Williams, and Kaniyah Arnold, whom he raised since she was two weeks old; five grandchildren, Kintaveyon Arnold, Kennedy Williams, Aadyn Robertson, Amarion Mohair-Allen, Aaron Robertson; one sister, Cheryl Williams; one brother, George (Marketa) Allen.; six sisters-in-law, Shirlene Anderson, Diane Matlock, Jean Pellum, Dorothy Pellum, Lisa (Donald Ray) Oliver, Princess (Donnie) Centers.; three brother-in-laws, Lunis (Julie) Pellum, George Pellum, Roger Allison; and, special friends, James Brown, Mark Johnson and O’Hara Maxey; the Rising Star church family and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 8, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at the Rising Star Baptist Church, 1002 Beech Street, in Hope, with Rev. M.E. Lyons officiating and Rev. Dr. Homer C. Rockmore, Eulogist.
Interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at Lakewood Memorial Gardens in Henderson, Texas. Arrangements are entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc., of Hope.
