HOPE - The Hope Junior High Bobkittens played their season home opener Monday night against Texarkana at Jones Field House.

HOPE - The Hope Junior High Bobkittens played their season home opener Monday night against Texarkana at Jones Field House. The eighth grade Bobkittens fell short to Texarkana in their battle, 37-25. The ninth grade Bobkittens were victorious over Texarkana, 40-36.

In eighth grade action, the Bobkittens kept the contest close only trailing by two points to Texarkana, 7-5. In the second quarter, Texarkana found a spark and out-scored the Bobkittens to lead at halftime, 19-7. In the third quarter, the Bobkittens out-scored Texarkana to trail by eight points at the end of the quarter, 24-16. In the fourth, the Bobkittens made a good effort on the comeback, but would fall short to Texarkana of victory.

In the game, J. Palmer led the Bobkittens in scoring with seven points, T. Love and M. Beasly each had five points.

In ninth grade boys action, the Bobkittens and Texarkana fight hard all night long. The Bobkittens would lead early in the first half, but Texarkana made a comeback in the third quarter. The Bobkittens regrouped in the fourth quarter and went on to win over Texarkana, 40-36.
In the first quarter, Cornelius Lindsey scored the first basket of the game at the 5:15 mark with Hope leading 2-0. Texarkana took the lead scoring back to back baskets leading, 4-2. The Bobkittens regained control of the game with Keontaye Wesley scoring six points in a row including a basket at the buzzer. Hope led Texarkana, 8-4 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Bobkittens increased their lead against Texarkana. Vincent Love made a steal and scored at the 5:18 mark giving the Bobkittens a 12-4 lead. Lindsey and Odell Hamilton all scored baskets and Wesley making a steal at the 2:00 mark  to score for Hope. Nate McVay added to the Bobkittens lead scoring at the 1:32 mark with Hope leading 20-8. Texarkana scored six point in the quarter. At halftime, Hope led Texarkana, 20-10.

In the third quarter, Texarkana out-scored the Bobkittens 15-3, to lead 25-23. In the fourth, the Bobkittens balanced out Texarkana out-scoring  them 17-11. In the quarter, Wesley scored seven points, McVay had five points, Kenvari Martin made a jumper for two points, Love and Hamilton both scored for the Bobkittens. Hope would go on to victory over Texarkana, 40-36 and win their first game of the season in their home opener.

In the game, Wesley led the Bobkittens in scoring with a big 22 points, McVay had five points, Lindsey and Love each had four points.
