TEXARKANA- The Hope junior high school Ladykittens swept victories against Texarkana on Monday night on the road for their first win of the season.

TEXARKANA- The Hope junior high school Ladykittens swept victories against Texarkana on Monday night on the road for their first win of the season. The Ladykittens fell short in their season openers last week against Nashville, but regrouped and came out on top with wins in their second straight road game of the 2009 season.

In eighth grade girls action, the Ladykittens jumped out to a quick lead over Texarkana, 14-3. In the second quarter, the Ladykittens out-scored Texarkana 10-5, leading at halftime, 24-8. In the third quarter, the Ladykittens kept increasing their lead scoring 18 points and locking down on defense allowing Texarkana to score three points in the quarter. In the fourth, the Ladykittens held on to their lead, going on to a  31 point victory over Texarkana, 42-11.

In the game, for the Ladykittens scoring in double-figures,  Morgan Norwood had 15 points, Jasmine Allen 11 points, Stacey Manley six points, and Shaquenda Cooper added four points.

In the game season opener against Nashville last week, Allen led the eighth grade Ladykittens scoring in double-figures with 11 points and A’layisha Conway added eight points.

In ninth grade girls action, the Ladykittens pulled out an big victory over Texarkana, 24-16.

In the first quarter, the Ladykittens trailed Texarkana by one point, 5-4. In the second quarter, the Ladykittens out-scored Texarkana, 7-2 and led at halftime, 11-7. In the third quarter, the Ladykittens remained on top to take a five point lead at the close of the third quarter, 15-10. In the fourth, the Ladykittens finished off Texarkana, to go on to a eight point victory, 24-16.

In the game, Asia Wesley led the Ladykittens in scoring with eight points, Angelica Fulton and Alex Morrison each had six points a piece.
In the game against Nashville last week, Morrison led the ninth grade Ladykittens with eight points.

The ninth grade Ladykittens will play in their home opener Monday, November 23 against Ashdown along with the eighth and ninth grade Bobkittens. Game time is set for 5 p.m. at Jones Field House.
